The ducks are swimming on the pond. (It means on the surface)The frogs are in the pond. (In means inside)
The frogs are at the pond. (At means close, near)
There are many lilies in the pond. (In means inside)
Comment:
We swim in the river. (in the pool, in the sea).
We found many frogs in the pond.
