The rest of the quantity of wood chemically reacted with oxygen present in the air during combustion (burning) to produce mainly carbon dioxide and water vapor along with some small quantities other gases which escaped into the atmosphere. The loss in weight is due to the loss of the carbon and hydrogen, present in the piece of wood as different substances, into CO2 and H2O.

God took it away. whilst he sees you placing hearth to his Creations, he's angered and takes them away. you shouldn't burn the eye-catching issues that God has made for that is a sin!

Part of the matter is converted to heat, light and then the rest is converted to dioxides monoxides etc. the ash is just the mineral part of the wood

It got burned out. The fire turned it into carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and whatever other chemicals were present.
