果experiment係preparation of iron(III) complex,
why is potassium ethanedioate solution used rather than water? why should the temperature be kept at about 40c
(procedure: suspend the washed precipate in a warm solution of 5g of potassium ethanedioate in 15 cm^3 water)

though ethanedioate is a strong ligand, it can still dissociate from the precipitate and be substituted by aqua ligand. washing with solution of ethanedioate keeps high concentration of ion, minimizing the dissociation of iron(III) ethanedioate.

why's kept warm... no idea. perhaps potassium ethanedioate is not very soluble in cold water? or to increase the solubility of impurities yet the precipitate is not soluble?
