Nude vs naked.

I shall not talk about the similiarity of both because both words synonmously means a bare human body. (whistle-blowing-wow!)

Nude/Nudity (human-related)
If we say : John like watching nude pictures. (Obviously, the contents in the picture isn't wearing any cloths and it's understood that it's a human body)
But, if we say : John like watching naked pictures. ( it isn't too clear that John is seeing an uncloth human or a bare photograph with no decoration and background.)
* it's wrong to say a nude animal but it is absolute right to be a nude woman.

Naked - sometimes takes the meaning of bare, and bareness isn't always human-body related. (Althought it poses more problem for a man to understand that--lol). However, you can always have the naked truth, an naked eye or a naked tree which expresses nothing more than what it already is.

Catch of the day is : the naked truth of a beautiful woman is in the eyes of the beholder and men never see it skin deep.

Naked, Nude (adjective) 裸體的, 赤裸地 = not wearing any clothes or not covered by clothes

Nude can be a noun as well.

Nude (noun) = a painting or statue of someone not wearing clothes

Both words mean the same most of the time, but some people, especially in the artist community, argue that there is a difference between the two adjectives.

Nudity involves the exposure of flesh in the presentation of art (A model poses nude in an art class) or in a safe and comfortable setting (taking a bath or a shower inside the bathroom).

Nakedness involves the exposure of flesh in a form that is either sexual or embarrassing. It carries a feeling of being exposed and defenseless. For example, you escaped from your bathroom, diving out of window because your house was on fire. You were naked. It implies that something normal is missing or that something abnormal/improper is happening, while "nude" has no such connotation.
