9. should be C
after making into monomers, they can't be remould -- re-polymerization is needed.

permanganate ----> oxidation into ethane-1,2-diol
hydrogen chloride ----> addition to give chloroethane
bromine ----> addition to give 1,2-dibromoethane
hydrogen with catalyst ----> addition / hydrogenation to give ethane

general formula is CnH2n.
no. of hydrogen is 6, same as ethane: C2H6
it decolorise bromine water, forming bromohydrin.
