Actually when dealing with absolute value, there are almost always 2 answers. In this case g could be 3 or 1/3. |3(3)-5|=4 or |3(1/3)-5|=4. The only time an absolute value equation doesn't have two answers is when the numbers in the absolute value equal 0. It can also be no solution if it equals a negative number.
Hey,
First subtract 2
|3g - 5|=4
In order to get rid of the abs. value you have to account for both possibilities.
-4=3g - 5=4
Solve. Remember what ever you don to one side you have to do to all sides.
You should get two answers.
