We should analyze the problem as:
1) What can you apply and study in the universities?
2) What career path you can develop after graduation?
Let me analyze one by one for you:
1) There are a lot of programmes you can apply, depending on your real results and the U you apply.
Chem / Bio: You can apply Chem, Bio, BioChem, Pharmacy, Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Textile Chem, Opticism, etc.
Econ: You can apply all BBA programmes, not only Econ.
Other choices ( they accept applications from any HKDSE course ): Social Science Faculty, Jorunalism, Humanities, Law, Education Faculty, etc. In conclusion, you have a lot of university programmes to apply.
2) Your school should have a system to put all choices in analysis before working out a timetable most students can take their desired 3x. No need to concern if they rarely crash. Those popular subjects like Econ or Bio may open 2 classes.
If your school let you take 3x, trust your ability. Some Band 3 schools only ask students taking 2x for they would find very hard to catch up with such hard workload.
3) Your initial career path is usually related to what you study. If you take BioChem, then likely you would apply for chemist in Lab. ( private or govt. are fine ). If you apply BA, then likely you would enter the Business sector.
But remember, you can still take Master PT later on and you can have more choices. Your career path can change upon you take a Master from another field. Everything is possible.
My comment is: Be positive. Strive for the best in HKDSE. The good result will let you a good chance to enter U with good choices, then your career can be started better.
Hope I have helped you.

You cannot succeed by just memorizing Bio. concepts. There are lots of keywords to memorize, and HKDSE has many application problems. You cannot work like dictations to put everything onto the answer sheet. If you could not understand the concepts, you would still fail in Bio.
