Some chopsticks have a metal piece at the ends. Explain why this is a better design.

It is said that the metal pieces a the ends of a pair of chopsticks could balance the weight of the food picked up by the chopsticks. If there is no metal piece, the centre of gravity of the chopsticks after picking up the food would shift towards the front end, and that makes manipulation of the chopsticks by the fingers difficult.
