I'm trying to solve an equation with two variables and i need to know what's equal to cos(x).
1.25=.4(x)cos(y), so divide both sides by 4 and then by x and you get 3.125/x = cos(y), so 1.25=.4x(3.125/x) i got x=2, so 2=cos(y), what does y equal? i got 3.125 but that doesn't sound right.
What does cos(x) equal?

of course it is not valid...don't know how you deduced that x = 2 from your work since you would get 1.25 = 1.25....one equation is 2 variables has an infinite number of " solutions "...you let y = any real , then you will find an x value to pair with that y.
