To do it in terms of calculus, we should take differentiation:
dy/dx = [(x^2 + 4)(2x) - x^2(2x)]/(x^2 + 4)^2
= 8x/(x^2 + 4)^2
Hence x = 0 gives dy/dx = 0
When x < 0, dy/dx < 0 and when x > 0, dy/dx > 0
So x = 0 is a min. pt.

= 8x/(x^2 + 4)^2
