Can you explain why the sentence “The teacher wants me to learn some music.” is incorrect? Please elaborate on this.

I think the use of “some music” in a sentence is generally acceptable.

Music is an uncountable noun.
Some is a determiner. It is used with uncountable noun and plural nouns.
e.g. some information, some medicine

Information is an uncountable noun. Medicine can be used as a countable or uncountable noun.

Examples:

The Beach Boys sang a hit song "Add Some Music to Your Day" in 1970.

“Give Me Some Music” was sung by Catherine Malfitano. (from “Anthony and Cleopatra”, Op. 40 – by Samuel Barber)

Let’s play some music.

Both are incorrect.

The teacher wants me to learn music.

Godfrey: Yes, you said the truth. We can use ‘some’ to describe any indefinite quantity so it's grammatically correct.

But, please refer back to the sentence. Does the teacher intend the student to learn part of or only some parts of the music? It's weird. By omitting the word 'some' is better in common spoken / written English.
