2 SATA HDDs & 1 SATA DVDwriter

Hi, I have four SATA ports on my mother board. How to connect 2 HDDs and 1 DVD writer? Does the 2 HDDs have to be connected to port 1 & port 3? With the DVD writer connected to port 2, would it slow down the hard disk performance? I am not running RAID and I want a connection with faster data access? Thanks.
