2. Heat needed = 1 x 4200 x 100 J = 420 000 J
where 4200 J/kg-C is the specific heat capacity of water

3. 5 degree C, since the energy is now spreaded over to 2 kg of water. Hence, the temperature rise = 10/2 'C = 5'C
