atomic number is 7; electronic configuration is [2,5]; element is N; molecule is N2.

to attain octet configuration, each atom has to gain three more electrons, thus a triple bond is formed by sharing three electrons from each of them.

after forming three bonds, two electrons left on each atom not forming bonds.
