in fact it's not "triyl"; it should be read as "Tri-yl".
take an example. when propan-1-ol turns into an ester, it's named as propyl.
same as here. the triol (three -OH group) forms as ester and needs to be named as -yl ------ yet it has three such ester group, so tri- is added.

similarly, it is read as tri-ethanoate, as there're three ethanoate group attached onto the triol.

it's important to indicate such things, as this is the basic structure of fat (lipid): tri-ester between glycerol and three fatty acids -- alkanoic acids. the alkanoic acids can be different.
