Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.
To what extent do you agree and disagree?
Nowadays, there are advertisements everywhere, you will find advertising for various kinds of goods in the newspapers, magazines, and even on the public transports like taxies, MTR and buses. In fact, the impact of advertisements is huge and it always is a emphasized factor for customers to decide whether buy the goods or not. I have to say that it is an effective method to persuade customers for spending money, no matter the goods is essential or not.
First of all, advertisings are one of the marketing strategies for businessmen to run the business and increase the income. They try to show all of the advantages of their products or the reasonable price of those through the advertisements, with an attempt to promote their products. For instance, most of the fashion brand companies would hire the local or international celebrities for promoting the dressing, because of the popularity of those celebrities. The products always become well-known in a short period. As a result, more people purchase those products and the sales will rose.
Apart from that, customers could buy goods due to the popularity of the products, not the needs. Ipod touch is one of the common products for this. In recent years, most citizens have brought a cell phone which includes music player, however, they probably brought the Ipod touch for listening music under the effect of advertisements. Actually, this is a trend and it is not necessary for them.
In conclusion, the advertisements have an incredible effect on promotion of goods and turn the goods to more attractive one to the consumers, therefore, the sales are rose dramatically for all products .
