as you know, any type of tourism will damage the environment, this is the main issure that tourism creating. May be i have misunderstand you question, but this is the point that i could only think of.

There are many disadvantages of event tourism to a country.
For example, the transportation,pollution,security ,infectious disease and culture shock, etc.
(it can be more easy for you to remember the points when you use a real case)
For example, the World Expo 2010 Shang Hai.

During World Expo, Shang Hai, many people comes to Shang Hai, it will leads the traffic jam. Shang Hai government use the transportation restriction to reduce this problem.

Also, During World Expo, many people may sell the fake ticket outside the site. it may leads the security problem. The organisor use anti-counterfeiting technology when design the ticket.
