can extension tubes be used for Sigma APO 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG MACRO lens? will it produce superior results than using just the lens?

you can't control aperture and auto focus if you use tube that have no electronic contact and you end up using the lens' maximum aperture

Extension tubes can be used for any lens. Depending on what you are trying to achieve, the result may be what you want or not. If you want higher magnification then extension tubes will definitely work. I personally use a bellows for macro shots.

Personally, I would never use extensions tubes with a zoom lens. You are going to loose 1 or 2 stops . I don't think you will get superior results - why do you think you might?
