The folder number of Canon G11 is shown in “XXX_MM”, where xxx is the ordinal number of the folder and MM is the month when the folder is created.
Can it be modified to “MM_YY”, where MM is the month and YY is the year.

If it's not indicated in the manual and if there's no option to do that in the menus then no, you can't change that. You could if you knew how to reprogram the camera but it wouldn't be worth anyone's time. It's easier to just use your own naming system when you copy the pictures to your computer at the end of a day of shooting.
