Explain why a ship which is made of iron or steel can float on the sea while a piece of iron sinks in water.

because a ship is constructed in such a way that the overall density is smaller than water,
so it floats
the density of a piece of iron is a lot higher than that of water
so it sinks
in what way a ship is constructed?
easy: empty space inside
