Is it possible to break a laptop from the inside by leaning on it?

I tripped while I was standing and typing and my wrist slammed into the area to the left of the touchpad. Now the mother board beeps every time I turn on the computer and gives text on a black screen. I've tried every option and nothing works. I heard what sounded like something popping or snapping when I leaned on it, I really think i might have popped out the hard drive or something similar. Is this possible? It is a Dell.

It Sounds like you may have damaged or loosened the hard drive. If you see the Dell logo, the motherboard is not damaged, but if you see text and it wont load Windows, the HD may have damaged.

Laptop is far more fragile than a desktop because it is not protected by a steel case. Being so thin also makes it much more vulnerable to damage, which appears to be your case. You will need to open it up to find out what is broke.
