Right now, I'd have to go with Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay or Tim Lincecum might be better, but they haven't had enough games to prove it. Lee's done amazing every single time (:
Statistically Halladay has a WHIP of 0.00, and an ERA of 0.00. His flaw... one walk.
The other three are right there with him. Lee shut down the Rays twice, Lincicum had a 14 strikeout complete game shutout tying a major league record for the post season, and CC is the pitcher in the regular season, and despite his one bad inning against the Twins, pitched great.
I've never been more excited to watch four pitchers for four different teams in one round.
i might have to agree with Jay The Rays Fan.....
no, it was Cliff Lee.... what else can you say? He shut them down tonight.
It was a well-pitched game by Price too, probably would have beaten most other teams on most other nights, but Cliff Lee ever-so-slighty better
He's done it in 2 games now.... Halladay and Lincecum only pitched once each. They would have to have pretty dominant performances again to average better than Lee's 2 starts
Roy Halladay has yet to give up a hit this post season. You can't get much better than that. And he did it against the team the led the National League in hitting.
edit: Halladay doesn't have to be dominant in his next start to match Lee. All it would take is 7 innings giving up 11 hits and 2 runs.
Halladay 1 G, 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R
C.Lee 2 G, 16 IP, 11 H, 2 R
edit2: What record did Lincecum tie? It certainly wasn't strikeouts because Bob Gibson had 17 in a game in the 1968 World Series. Also, Kevin Brown had 16 in the 1998 NLDS and Roger Clemens, Livan Hernandez, Mike Mussina and Sandy Koufax all had 15 strikeouts in a post season game.
It's gotta be Roy Halladay, now. He pitched a no-hitter in the NLDS. No one has pitched better than him, thus far. I mean, he completely shut down the best offensive lineup (stat-wise) in the first round. He could do the same to any other team.
