at school i have about 4 friends in my friendship circle and no one else outside that. there are obviously people i talk to and get along with but i wouldnt meet up with them outside of school. however, at work i have upwards of 15 friends that any one of them i can call up and hang out when i like. there are about 2 ppl from that 15 who are probably my closest friends ive ever had.
i find it strange i have quite a few friends at work whom i love to be around yet at school, i only have about 4.

have you experienced this before?
i knew a girl who was a loner at my high school but extremely popular at her local scouts club

Yes, I have. I worked with professional people who were serious about what they did and did not act childish like the people in my "outside work" social circle. For drinking, playing around, and recreational activities one group was the "go to" group. For serious conversations, advice you could depend on, and levelheaded decisions the other group was the one to see. Maybe you're a more mature person and don't really identify with the people at school for that reason.

I don't think it really matters where your friends come from, as long as they are GOOD friends. You may just be the type of person that can easily relate to people DEPENDING on what environment you're in. It could just be that people are work are much more maturer then people at your school.

Yes, I am a 14 year old boy and I have 4 trusted friends at school, Ironically, they are all girls. But at the place where I worked in the summer, I had at least a dozen. But I don't know, it's weird, maybe it's just the environment and the vibes and the certain types of people that are there. Also, it depends if you get along with different types of people.

at work you HAVE to get along. If you don't it puts a strain on you getting your job done which puts a strain you getting paid. Of course everyone at work is going to try to get along, they like getting paid. especially in this recession.

school is more of a fashion show and a popularity contest. you don't HAVE to get along with your classmates like at work.

well in my situation i went to a school where i had lots of friends but when i transferred to a new school for a year i made more friends than i did in 3 yrs at my old school. i guess just the environment is better for you to make friends
