蛋白質是怎樣承托在細胞膜內?蛋白質同樣是兩性離子，其親水的(兩極, 即兩端)部位可以身處於周圍有水的部份，面向着細胞膜的內側或外側。
兩性離子：是總電荷為0，電中性的化合物，但是帶正電和負電的原子不同。有些化學家將此術語限定為未具有相鄰正負電荷的化合物。此定義將諸如氧化胺的化合物排除。兩性離子為極性，通常易溶於水，難溶於大部分有機溶劑。
