Hi I just bought a Wing Chun Kung Fu 3 compartments sand bag, how can i support or hang it on the wall?
Also, is it unhealthy to put the sand inside because the particles will come out when I punch it and I gonna breath those particles in. Thanks!

Thank You, but I am living in a rented apartment now.. is there any other way to "hang" the sandbag on the wall?

Use beans are used inside the bag. Traditionally, mung beans or soy beans, but I suppose other types of beans can be used as long as they aren't very fragile. Not sand as you've found out they will seep through the spaces between the canvas fibers. Another alternative you can use are the plastic pellets used in airsoft guns work pretty well also . You need a study post or wall stud. Do not just mount the bag on a sheetrock wall. the force of repeated impacts will surely damage the sheetrock.

Rice also works as a filler, but over time the grains will break down and turn to powder. Iv'e also hear of people filling the bags full of copper bb's or lead shot.

I don't recommend that you put a striking bag of that kind or any other in an apartment. It will only get you in trouble with the other tenants and the office. Even light strikes will be heard and felt in other apartments. If you do decide to hang the bag, you will end up hitting the bag and causing it to break through the drywall.

In short, the difference between wushu (another translation for martial art) and Wing Chun is: Wushu: encompasses wide variety of styles, where the focus is more on performance than actual combat application. Practitioners choose wushu for discipline, control, cardio workout and strenght, and aesthetic performance. Viewed as a sport. Although it can be applied for combat, that is usually not the focus. It may look powerful, but it is not usually practiced to be applied correctly and so practitioners may hurt themselves more. Wing Chun: a street-based martial art designed to handle sticky situations on the streets effectively, efficiently, simply, and directly. No nonsense, it does not look pretty at all, aesthetically speaking - unless you're an engineer interested in structure. Wing Chun is not a choice for those seeking cardio workouts. In short, both are like writing styles: the sentence can be flowery like a poem to describe a setting (wushu) , the other just gets straight to the point and moves on (wing chun).

You own your own house, right? This should not be done to rented property, as it will put big holes in the wall for mounting, and could be noisy besides, if you bang on it. And it could be bad for the wall, too, all that banging. Plaster could crack, or if you miss, you could punch a hole in the drywall.

What you need to do is find the studs (vertical 2x4 beams inside the walls). You will need to either get large hooks or lag screws to go directly into the studs. I could go with 1/4", maybe even 5/16" screws. You may need to screw some kind of bracket to the wall.
