About absorption,why most of the water is absorbed in small intestine ,not large intestine ?

small intestine is the longest, and the part of the small intestine's name is illeum. also, there r villi and microvilli in small intestine, which greatly increase the surface area of the small intestine .there r also more mitocondrian in small intestine for producing ATP for active transport to absorb nutrients
