a purse at radius 2.00m and a wallet at radius 3.00m travel in uniform circular motion on the floor of a merry-go-around as the ride turns. they are on the same radial line. at one instant, the acceleration of the purse is (2.00 m) i + (4.00 m) j. at that instant and in unit-vector notation, what is the acceleration of the wallet?

the answer is (3.00 m) i + (6.00 m) j.

Please explain why that is the answer ?? explain in details !!!!

thank you very much!!!

Acceleration a = r.w^2where r is the radius of the circular motion and w is the angular velocity Since the angular velocities of the purse and wallet are the same, hencea = 2.w^2and a’ = 3.w^2where a and a’ are the accelerations of the purse and wallet respectively thus a’/a = 3/2i.e. a’ = (3/2).a = (3/2).[(2m).i + (4m).j] m/s^2 = [(3m).i + (6m).j] m/s^2
