Explain why disposal of 'flat' cells presents a pollution problem.
e.g. zinc-carbon cell

in commercial cells like zinc-carbon cells, there're heavy metals in the cell, such zinc and manganese. (silver in button-type cells, manganese in alkaline-manganese cells) these metals can contamination the soil and the underground water of landfills, as well as producing metal-containing harmful smoke after incineration.

recycling flat batteries and extract the metals inside is a better choice.
