logy=1-log(y-3)logy+log(y-3)=1
log[y(y-3)]=1
log(y^2-3y)=1
y^2-3y=10^1=10
y^2-3y-10=0
(y-5)(y+2)=0
y=5 or y=-2 (rejected)

You can assume the base number is 10 when the logarithm does not specify the base number.
