幾時+ies 幾時+es 幾時+s

VERB (動詞):

當使用現在簡單時式 (Present simple tense). 主语(Subject)是第三者單數, (Third person singular), 動詞 (verb)要轉加 –s, -es, 或 –ies.

Third Person singular: He, She, It, Peter, Mary, Cat, Table….etc單數物件

下列現在簡單時式 (Present simple tense)
I walk.
You walk.
He walks. She walks. Peter walks. Mary walks. A dog walks. (第三者單數)
We walk.
They walk.
My two dogs walk.

如果動詞 end with "s" "x" "ch" "sh",動詞要加 -es
He watches TV. She watches TV.
He washes his hands. She washes her hands.
Wax passes from solid to liquid when you heat it.

如果動詞 end with "y", y前面字母是元音字母vowel (a,e,i,o,u), 只有加 –s
He plays. (play 變成 plays)
Peter pays the bill. (pay 變成 pays)

如果前面字母不是 vowel, 是輔音(consonant), y改變 – ies.
The bird flies. (fly 變成 flies)
Mary carries a bag. (carry 變成 carries) 


NOUNS (名詞)

當名詞單數(single) 轉去復數(plural), 名詞只加 –s
one girl – two girls
如果名詞 end with "s" "x" "ch" "sh",名詞要加 –es
a box - ten boxes
one bus – many buses
one match – two matches
one dish – several dishes

如果名詞 end with "y",y前面字母是元音字母vowel (a,e,i,o,u), 只有加 –s
one boy – two boys
如果前面字母不是 vowel, 是輔音(consonant), y改變 – ies.
One lorry – two lorries, a lady – two ladies

如果名詞 end with "o",多數名詞加 –s
a cargo – two cargoes
a negro – two negroes

有例外字
piano – pianos, photo – photos, video – videos, igloo – igloos
soprano – sopranos, alto – altos, kilo – kilos, radio - radios

你沒有問及 noun ends in f, fe , 相信你知道,不提及了(有些要轉加 -ves)
