There are tons of fleas in my backyard and they are getting into the house..What should I do?

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a bottle of Cutter-the one that you attach to your water hose. Attach it to your water hose (directions are on the bottle-very simple), turn it on and spray your entire front and backyard. One bottle should be enough. I live in South Texas where the mosquitos are terrible and I use this quite often and it works really well....for fleas too. Also if you have any garden beds mulch them with cedar mulch. It smells good and really does keep fleas and other insects away.
Get some borax in your laundry section at the store and sprinkle it under your sofa cushions. Spray your pets bed with a mixture of vinegar and water.
What really helps is to not have carpet. I know it's expensive to change out at first, but it's worth it.
I have three cats. They don't use flea treatment and they don't have fleas. However, my vet said some animals just don't attract fleas.
Also, brewer's yeast taken internally will help keep the fleas away as well. I give my cats treats with brewer's yeast in it.

Spreading some diatomaceous earth, available at any organic gardening center store and places like Lowes and Wal Mart, and not labeled for swimming pools, around your yard will get rid of the fleas. It is harmless to dogs. When the fleas crawl on this, it will dry them out. When the eggs hatch, it will dry the new fleas out. The eggs usually hatch after the house has been treated.
