surprised = 驚訝 ( feeling or showing surprise )

shocked = 震驚

scared = 害怕 ( rightened of something or afraid that something bad might happen )

horrified = 驚恐

terrified = 恐懼

alarmed = 擔心 ( anxious or afraid that something dangerous or unpleasant might happen )

appalled = 毛骨悚然 ( feeling or showing horror or disgust at something unpleasant or wrong )

Surprised (感到驚訝的)
A surprise is an unexpected event, fact or piece of news. If you are surprised at something, you have a feeling of surprise because it is unexpected or unusual. It can be good or bad.
e.g. Tom seemed surprised to find only one person lived in such a big house.

Shocked (大吃一驚)
When someone is surprised and upset because something unpleasant has happened, they are shocked.
e.g. This was nasty attack and the woman is still shocked.

Scared (驚嚇的)
If you are scared of someone or something, you are frightened of them.
e.g. I was scared of the principal at my school because I was caned by him once.

Horrified (驚駭的)
If someone is horrified, they feel shocked or disgusted, usually because of something they have seen or heard.
e.g. We were horrified to see children living in such terrible conditions.

Terrified (恐懼的)
If something terrifies you, it makes you feel extremely frightened.
e.g. The mother was terrified that her son would be kidnapped again.

Alarmed (不安, 憂慮的)
If someone is alarmed, they feel afraid or anxious that something unpleasant and dangerous might happen.
e.g. We don’t wish to alarm people unnecessarily, but it would be wise to avoid drinking tap water here.

Appalled (使膽寒,使驚駭)
If you are appalled by something, you are shocked or disgusted because it is so bad and unpleasant.
e.g. We are all, of course, appalled that expired baby foods are still on sale in the store.
