Why aren't guns illegal?

It seems like random shootings are happening more often. I would think after Columbine they would make guns illegal, and most definitely after Virgina Tech. But clearly they haven't.

Even in places where guns are made illegal, you will find people with them.

For every random shooting you are talking about, you never hear of the millions of law abiding citizens that own guns and DON'T go on a shooting rampage.

I don't know if these statistics exist or not, but I would bet you that if you take the number of legal gun owners in the US and figured out what percentage of these people go on shooting rampages, and compare this percentage to other countries, the US probably would be a lot lower than these other countries. Why? Because if you ban guns, all you do us take them away from the law abiding citizens that only want to protect themselves and their families from those that are not law abiding citizens and acquired their guns illegally.

The Second Amendment protects the right of individual Citizens of The United States of America to own firearms.

Ironically far more people are killed in automobile accidents every year than are killed by firearms.

The ownership of automobiles is not even protected by the second amendment.

However we do not ban automobiles.

If the people who want to ban guns were really serious about saving lives, they would insist that we ban automobiles.

The fact that the people who want to ban guns have not made any serious attempts to ban automobiles, tells me that the desire to save lives is not the real reason that they want to ban guns.

There is something else going on here. That is what we call a hidden agenda.

The challenge is to figure out what is the hidden agenda of the people who want to ban guns?

We do know that the purpose is not to save lives, otherwise the people who want to ban guns would insist that we ban cars.

What is the real hidden agenda of the people who want to ban guns?

Perhaps we should look at other governments in the world that made it illegal for private Citizens to own guns.

Back in the 1930s Adolf Hitler made the ownerhsip of guns in Germany illegal because there were too many deaths due to shootings.

Adolf Hitler and the NAZIS confiscated all of the privately owned firearms in Germany.

That sounded plausible and high minded at the time.

Several years later Adolf Hitler and the NAZIS rounded up all of the Jewish People and sent the Jewish People to be exerminated in what we now know as the Holocaust.

The Jewish People were not able to defend themselves from the NAZIS because the NAZIS had confiscated all of the privately owned firearms several years earlier.

Do the gun grabbers have any fantasies along those lines? Is that the hidden agenda?

Of course Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Janet Napolitano, and Nancy Pelosi would never even think of doing anything like that to Conservatives now would they?

The issue of whether or not private Citizens should be permitted to own weapons has actually been debated for thousands of years.

The Founders of our Nation were well aware of those debates.

The founders of our Nation were of the opinion that it is so important that the Private Citizens have the right to own weapons that they made it part of the Constitution.

Human nature has not changed in thousands of years. It is only the details of the technology that has changed.

Our Constitution is based upon thousands of years of Human history and a thorough knowledge of Human beahvior.

Nothing has changed that would make the need for the Second Amendment to the Constitution any less valid today than it was at the founding of our nation.

If anything the need for the Second Amendment is greater today than at any time in the history of The United States of America.

Some of us are responsible with our fire arms. Those of us that have had to use our firearms against humans know the consequences. Even if you are cleared of any legally wrong doing you still lose your fire arm to the Law. You get sued by the person's family for wrongful death, and it takes so much paperwork and hassle to get the gun back from the law it is sometimes easier just to get another gun. I enjoy hunting and competition shooting. I don't think shooting people is right but hey somepeople dont think that breaking into an occupied house or robbing a person is wrong either. Some just have to learn the hard way.

Primary reason: The 2nd Amendment.

Also, guns don't kill people. People do. Hell, I own 10 of them and not one of my firearms has ever killed a person.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

A human should have the right to protect themselves if they are being hurt or threatened with another weapon. Even if we do make the use of guns illegal, there will still be people illegally carrying guns but then there would be no way for people to protect themselves from harm.
