Should I be worried about my neutered male cat mating the female (in season) the next few days after the op?

My male cat was neuterd yesterday because he kept trying to mate with his sister (who is in season - not spayed). Since he came home yesterday from the vet he has been trying to mate with her the whole time. Should I be worried? Or will he loose the urge eventually/soon? Is there any chance she could get pregnant?

Forget what the first person said. The newly neutered cat may have his testes removed, but he'll have sperm in the tubes still viable for up to a week. Keep him separate from the female cat to avoid any 'last chance' kittens. He can still father kittens till the sperm is gone.

YES!! He can still get her pregnant! Keep them away from each other for a bit. I didn't do this once and had one more litter to my mortification. I'd say until she is FULLY out of heat.

If he was neutered then he is not capable of mating. His brain might still be connecting with the changes made to his body, hence his trying to mate with his sister, but the function no longer exists. Don't worry about it unless the vet didn't do a proper job of it!

well done for doing the right thing and getting your cat neutered, unfortunately your male cat can still perform successfully for a few days after being fixed. the only thing you can really do now is get your other cat fixed asap the vet will do this as long as she is only just pregnant, the way you can tell if she is pregnant is her nipples will turn bright pink about two weeks into it. good luck and happy cat owning

Actually, yes it is possible for your male to mate and impregnate your queen this soon after neutering. The surgery removes the testicles, but there may still be seminal fluid in the tubes that led from the testes down through his penis. This retained fluid can survive for up to a week after surgery.
