I need to know how to determine if a 2$ bill is real or not. Recently someone gave me 10 crisp 2$ and they seem fake. yet I cant be sure

$2 bills are rarely faked because there just isn't enough profit to justify the long federal prison sentence if the counterfeiter got caught. And, most $2 bills are crisp and in mint or near mint condition because they are rarely put in circulation (think about the last time you received a $2 bill in change at a store). So, I would be really surprised if your $2 bill is faked....

The $2 bill does not have a water mark, so it's slightly more difficult to establish that the $2 bills are genuine. However, look at the portrait, there should be very fine lines around the head of the person in the portrait. If the lines are smudged or blurred, you may have a fake bill. If you rub the bill rapidly on a white piece of paper, the ink should show on the paper, as the ink on money never dries due to money being processed cotton fibers.

Hold them to the light and see what the narrow strip inside the bill says on it.

All federal currency is made with a distinct cotton content ratio. If you analyze the fibers, you should be able to easily distinguish what is likely apparent fraud from well-intentioned dollars.

if you put the 2 dollar bill in the ligght and see the other side, then it is PROVEN to be not fake. Please note, if it is fake, then you could go to the bank and tell them you have a fraud. However, i doubt 2 dollar bills are fake, because they barley make any money. Would you rather print a 10 dollar fake bill or 2 dollar fake bill? Hope i helped. :)

Money is washable. Paper is not. Paper won't survive water for very long. It will break down. Money won't do that.

Hold it to light. Weigh it against a regular bill.
