In the power option, there is a setting "turn off the hard disk after xx mins."
What is the use of this setting since the hard disk spins only when reading or saving data.

I believe it's because of battery life if you have a notebook, or power usage if you have a desktop computer, correct me if I'm wrong.But the least amount of times you turn your hard disk On and Off, the better. It ensures more durability.
