English question, please help?

A: A new teacher is coming this afternoon.
B: ( Where is he from? / Where is she from?)

Hi just wondering, in this case, how would you ask the question if ur the B speaker?
How do native speakers normally say this, when the gender is unclear?
Thank you very much.

"Where are they from?"

"They" is the third person plural or third person singular in reference to an unspecified gender.

"Where is he or she from?" or "Where is the teacher from?" as that is not expressing a certain gender.
There are few ways of putting it but any one of these is fine.

you would say "where is he or she from?"
any time the gender is unknown just say "he or she" when asking a question or whatever the case may be.
hope this helps!

There is no correct answer in speech but B might say (Where are THEY from?). In writing B could say where is s/he or he/she from or more formally where is she or he from. There are very few words in English are not gender specific.
