will our dog's fleas affect our other pets?

the problem is we have a dog (pekingese) with lots of fleas. before we just remove them by hand but now there are way to much of them and they just fall of every night and crawl off somewhere. our dog sleeps in a crate inside the house. is it true that pinching fleas that have eggs cause more fleas to appear?
we also have our older dog (half chowchow) that has never had any flea problems. she is at our backyard, outside the house and has a leash.
and we have 4 cats...will dog fleas affect cats? (one of them is a male kitten, another is an older male kitten, the eldest cat is female, and the other male cat normally leaves home)
THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: can you suggest ways on controlling flees?

YES! Fleas jump they will invade your house not only your other animals and will get on you as well. I would suggest going to your pet store (petsmart or something) and getting some kind of flea bombs you'll probably need several that you put in the house you have to remove your pets from the house and you cannot access the house for a day maybe (depending on what kind you get) and then you can get Hertz Foaming flee shampoo you HAVE to read the directions but you lather your dog down in it make sure hes absolutley covered (obviously not his eyes nose ears or mouth) and let it sit for a good 5-8 minutes (I usually use this on my dog in the summer once a month just in case and i normally wash her in the bath tub) you can actually see the fleas it kills and eggs as well. I would also wash all your animals with it just to make sure and then you NEED to get the dogs and cats on a good flea prevention like frontline. I know its expensive but you can go on like 1800petmeds.com and its usually a little cheaper and some places like Care a lot pets will even match the price or go a little under. But you have to take care of the flea problem b/c they will get in your carpet and furniture and you'll have an even bigger issue

Yes the fleas will affect your other pets & could even become a REAL problem for you.

I suggest getting some Frontline Plus now for your dogs & cats. You can get it from the VET.

Yes, dog's fleas will affect other dogs and cats,

The most common way to control fleas is using fleas treatment & medication such as Frontline Plus, Advantage, Capster ... etc,

You could also get a flea comb to remove the fleas on your dog, another important things is to keep your house clean.

Ever hear of the plagues in the middle ages? Transmitted by fleas on rats. You're not gonna get a plague, but you will get fleas, as will your other pets. Why ever wouldn't fleas jump on you too?? If you're alive, you'll get them.

You need to treat the animals and your house, and then treat your house again in a couple of weeks after the eggs hatch.
