meatballs都係用were?
spaghetti又點解用was????

the cabbages were cut by wilson.
the meatballs were cooked by ivan

✔ 最佳答案
因為cabbages,meatballs嗰度+咗s,亦即係多過一,所以用were
而spaghetti嗰度冇+到s,所以用was。

The cabbages and meatballs are countable, therefore are plural, using the verb 'are' in present tense or 'were' in past tense.
The spaghetti is uncountable (you are not counting how many strips of spgahetti there are in one portion, aren't you?), and so is single, using the verb 'is' in present tense or 'was' in past tense.

In addition, as the structure of ''the cabbages were cut by Wilson' is so simple, as a native speaker we would rather say 'Wilson cut the cabbages' to make it simple.

the cabbages同埋meatballs用were系因為佢地系眾數(2個或以上),即是有s

你可能會問:咁點解spaghtti唔用were啊?佢唔系多過一條咩?
其實spaghtti唔用were系因為佢數唔到,所有數唔到既野,無論有幾多都要用was,例如water

但系如果佢話幾桶水就要用were啦,因為幾桶可以數到

希望幫到你啦

'Cabbage' & 'meatball' are countable. 佢哋係可以數到既,亦即係可以加's',亦即係多過1,所以用'were'。相反,'spaghetti' is uncountable. 佢數唔到,亦即係唔可以加's',所以用'was'.

Were 是 Are 的過去式 而
Was 是 Is 的過去式.
所以就好似IS & ARE 咁,
遇到眾數用"Were"
遇到單數用"Was"

因為cabbages & meatballs 是眾數, 所以用"WERE"
而 spaghetti 是 Uncountable的, 所以會當成單數的做法, 用"WAS"
