1.when 21 ,30 and 48 cards are divided equally among a group of students , 3 cards are left behind in each case . find the greatest possible number of students.


2.the dimensions of a rectangular card is 20 cm x16 cm . andy uses pieces of rectangular cards to make a square
a)find the least possible length of the sides of the square that can be made.

b)how many pieces of retangular cards are needed for making the square

1) That means when 21-3 = 18 , 30-3 = 27 , 48-3 = 45 cards are divided equally among a group of students , no cards left behind in each case .
The greatest possible number of students= The HCF of 18 , 27 , 4518 = 2 * 3 * 3
27 = 3 * 3 * 3
45 = 3 * 3 * 5HCF = 3 * 3 = 9The greatest possible number of students = 9
2a)20 = 4 * 516 = 4 * 4a)
The LCM of 20 and 16 is 4 * 4 * 5 = 80The least possible length of the sides of the square = 80cmb)(80 * 80) / (16 * 20)= 20 pieces of retangular cards are needed for making the square.
