Wont legalizing interracial marriage lead to people marrying their dogs?

Marriage is traditionally only within one's race and faith. Why should we change it now?

Lets be real, these were the arguments made when interracial marriage became real and these are the same failed arguments used against same sex marriage.

Interracial marriage is legal. Reading your question closely I see that you know that and are making a point about the types of arguments people make against same sex marriage.

Here is a Wikipedia article about the type of logical fallacy you are referring to. It is known as the "slippery slope" fallacy. It shows up in debates on all sorts of different issues. "If we allow this, it's a slippery slope to this, and before you know it, it's cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria!" Sounds familiar, yes? Click the link to read what is wrong with these types of arguments.

I'm aware, believe me. People eventually got over interracial marriage and they'll get over homosexuality as well(at least I hope).

Fortunately, Loving v Virginia overturned anti-miscegenation laws.

I thought I'd be allowed to marry my blender?

Marriage is traditionally only within ones species. The rest is optional

I'd like to leave you with one thought ... but I'm not sure you have a place to put it.

>>Marriage is traditionally only within one's race<<

There is only one human race. That's why Judaism and Catholicism have never prohibited marriages between people of differing skin tones.

>>lead to people marrying their dogs<<

People already marry dogs and other animals.

No. God turned Miriam into a leper temporarily when she criticized Moses for marrying a Cushite woman.

Excellent point - you'll find that the "slippery slope" argument is most often used when there are no LOGICAL arguments available.

What is really stupefying is that the fundies and haters don't perceive the inevitability of Justice.
They fail to recognize that no matter how they H8 they can only delay justice.

Exactly, that is the same argument they made at one time.

It's not anyone's business what 2 (or more) consenting adults are doing in their bedrooms. They need to tend to their own house and quit worrying about everyone else's. Besides, isn't it rather odd that some obsess over what kind of sex other adults are having?

Yes, real indeed.

Good to point out that traditions aren't automatically right just because they are traditions. Hanging negroes for looking at a white woman funny was a tradition in the South at one point. Should we have kept that?

Sorry, the legal and social definition of marriage precludes incest. Incest is the oldest and most wide spread taboo. Legalize gay marriage if you want, just don't confuse the issue. If We were talking legalization of two homosexual people getting married, I wouldn't have an issue. Today, however, we would see a move towards more than two people (polygamy, etc.). That really isn't the definition of marriage, and we need to make another legally binding contract for those types of unions.

I don't carry who gets married. I married my couch so my *** can stay here everyday. Should that be illegal? I don't care about law. I trust my inner guidance system & I was so happy I was told to get married. I used to walk around & my *** would clap cause it was so happy so I parked it on the sofa & have been here for 4 years now.

G-d only split up the people by language and then colour because we had disobeyed him and refused to go out into the Earth and be fruitful and multiply. We had all bunched together in walled cities with rulers as our new false g-d obeying their laws and rules not those of G-d our father. Refer to The Tower of Babel, Babylon, Nineveh, and Nimrod etc.

There is no such thing as same sex marriage that is lawful anywhere. It could only be called something different such as a civil ceremony as marriage is a religious sanctification under G-d between man and woman and it would almost certainly be religious discrimination to have same sex union labelled as marriage.

It is a major sin in the Bible to lie with an animal and I believe would pretty much condemn you the same as same sex relations.

As far as "legal" and "legalizing" is concerned you have to understand that there are plenty of things that are already "legal" but they are certainly not "lawful" there is a huge difference. The murder of unborn babies is legal in many nations, but its certainly not lawful and is another major sin and against G-ds commandments and the teachings of Jesus. It's something that will not go unpunished.

It's my view based on studying the Bible that interracial marriage is not prohibited.

Trying to equate the gay struggle to have pieces of paper with the word "married" written on them with what blacks had to deal with is a great way to ensure more 70% black votes against gay marriage initiatives.... But keep singing "we shall overcome" and hope for the best from the judicial system.
