The base and the height of a triangular metal plate are 8cmand 4cm respectively. The metal plate is melted and recast into a metal plate in the shape of a trapezium with a height the same as that of the triangle.Find two possible pairs ofthe lengths of the shorter base and the longer base ofthenew metal plate.

Let the shorter base and the longer base of the new metal plate be S and L ,The area of a trapezium metal plate = The area of a triangular metal plate (S + L) * 4 /2 = 8 * 4 / 2S + L = 8S = 1cm , L = 7cmorS = 2cm , L = 6cmorS = 3cm , L = 5cmorS = 3.9cm , L = 4.1cm
