Add-on's have always been trouble makers for IE. This can happen if the add-on was created for an earlier version of IE or has a programming error. Many add-ons come from the Internet. Most add-ons from the Internet require that you give your permission before they are downloaded to your computer. Some, however, might be installed without your knowledge. This can happen if the add-on was part of another program that you installed. Some add-ons are installed with Microsoft Windows as well,
To identify the fault:
Try to run IE 7 without add-ons by right-clicking the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop and then clicking Start Without Add-ons. If it runs OK, one of the add-on's is causing the problem.
To rectify the fault (if identified as above):
Launch existing IE 7, go to Tools > Manage Add-on's > Enable or disable Add-on's. Click to open the drop down menu at Show button for each category of Add-on's in IE 7. On these lists, click each Add-on that is not verified then disable it especially the ones running without permission. I would disable all except reputable ones from MicroSoft, Sun Java, Yahoo, Adobe, Google etc. When finished, close IE then shut down PC wait 2 minutes then restart to try.
This might be time consuming but it'll eventually weed it out. I used to be able to delete ALL Add-on's then reinstall IE 7 a few years back when IE 7 was new but this function is no longer availabe. Good luck.

YouTube utilizes Flash Player for movie clips. You might have to uninstall the existing player in Control panel/Add or remove programs then download and reinstall the latest version after managing the Add-on's.

Sorry, if your IE 7 is running without Add-on's already. Remove it in control panel. It'll roll back to IE 6. Download IE7 and reinstall it. Those Add-on's might still be hidden in Windows' system. Disable as above to find out.
