halo, I think i shall answer ur question in here.
>> when applying through ucas, it requires you to fill in the subjects that you are doing and their levels (ie. AS or A2). Once the information is received, the uni will consider ur results and decided whether or not giving u an offer.
>> Some offers may require 3 ALs as u have said, some may require 4 ALs depending of which uni and subject u choose and wt course u are undertaking.
>> If you only have 2AL and AS, the uni may give you offer that requires all A in the ALs and AS to compensate the fact that u havent taken 3 full ALs. However, most uni woud require 3 full ALs such that it is better for you do "upgrade" one of ur AS to A2 subject in order to complete a full AL course.
>> 2AS courses will not equals to 1AL as their syllubus and their standard is different.
