1) You can use vim to edit or view the file, as VIM will only load the current line around 200 line up&dowm into memory not whole file. thus, it will not a problem for over 2.6GB files.

2) But I will perfer, you can use some "top" or "Tail" tool for windows to cut it into smaller piece. e.g. tail for win32 http://tailforwin32.sourceforge.net/

Using notepad to open up oversized txt file will cause a problem, so try with MS Word or Wordpad, then cut and paste to do the chop up.
