**
in the strictest sense, means
(1) to reject kindness and to embrace cruelty
(2) to prefer to learn things the hard way

In the first scenario described, you didn't appreciate your parents' loving kindness when you were with them, and only realized it when you had left them. You didn't really deliberately reject kindness in favour of cruelty, so it is not ** in the strictest sense, but it would still fall in that category. Your ** behaviour, therefore, is that "you were stupid enough to only treasure your parents' loving kindness when you couldn't have it.

In the second scenario described, you did learn things the hard way, but didn't knowingly chose to do so, so it is not ** in the strictest sense, but it would still fall in that category. Your ** behaviour, therefore, is that "you were stupid enough to only appreciate your parents' good advices when it's too late".

I would just say ** in your situations are:
(1) you only treasure your parents' loving kindness when you couldn't have it.
(2) you only appreciate your parents' good advices when it's too late.

1. To put it harshly, that's something I(he /she) asked for.

2.To put it more harshly, that's what I(he/she) pushed for.

3.To put it harshly, what goes around comes around.

"What goes around comes around."

Being stupid

或是

Pure stupidity.
