A multiple choice question has 4 options and only 1 of them is correct. In answering the question, a student either knows the answer or guesses randomly. If the probability of student knows the answer = 3/4, find the probability that the student knows the answer given that the student answers correctly? ( Ans. 12/13)

P(the student answers correctly)
= P(knows the answer ) + P(correct guesses)
= (3/4)(1)+ (1/4)(1/4)
= 13/16

P(the student knows the answer given that the student answers correctly)
= P(knows the answer) / P(the student answers correctly)
= (3/4)(1) / (13/16)
= 12/13
