Just about every apartment/condo/townhome/house in DC and in the metro area is expensive. Supply and demand.

Housing is expensive in Rosslyn and especially anywhere along the Metrorial throughhout Arlington simply because of convenience and fact that commuting traffic is really bad.

Though you did not say which university you are attending, FYI most single individuals in Arlington live together and rent rooms or share townhouses with others to reduce the high costs...

Hope the Above Info Helps!

DC is a great place to live, particularly NW and SW. It's easy to bike or even walk from Rosslyn into Georgetown. So many people want to live there that the market demand for apartments is very high. Most of the land in Rosslyn is already used up, so it can be diffcult to build more housing. Combine high demand with limited supply and you get high prices. I live in NYC now, so trust me, I feel your pain.

It's the local market. The closer you are to DC, the more expensive they're likely to be. If you must be close to the city, consider looking into a roommate/houseshare situation. Otherwise, consider going further out into the burbs where it's cheaper, maybe somewhere near a metro stop.

supply and demand.

too bad the government does not put a cap on rents. the rich landlords just get richer.
