The first one is correct in present perfect tense and it means they were married five years ago and they are still married now.
The second one is not appropriate. It can be rewritten either as "they are married" or as "they were married five years ago."
No difference in the common idealogy of marriage. Not unless this couple, was married for 2 years, went separate ways for couple of years and got married again for another 3 years. Then the 2nd sentence would better describe the situation. If not, both are correct.
1) have been - indicates a continuing action/involvement to the present
2) are married - could be a sum of 5 years and not necessary to be one continuing action.
1. present pt. they r married from 5 yrs ago to now.
2. present tense. but if u want to specific a time frame, like years, this sentence is wrong. however, they r married is correct. just saying they r still in a marriage.
