Hello!

We have the given :

1 mile = 5280 feet
1 meter = 3 ft

Since every 3 feet equal a meter, if we divide 5280 by 3, we have meters in a mile:

5280 / 3 = 1760

There is 1760 meters in a mile.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Mr.Math

1 meter is NOT 3 feet.

1 meter is 100 cm, and there are exactly (per definition) 2.54 cm in one inch.
This means that 1 foot (12 inches) will be 0.3048 m (or that 1 m will be 3.280839895 ft)

So, one mile will be 5280 * 0.3048 = 1609.344 m.

1 meter is not 3 feet...close, but that could be affecting your answer a bit.
1 meter = 39 inches. 3 feet = 36 inches. so let's do this using 1m=39in and 1mi=5280ft and 1ft=12in

5280 ft * (12in / 1ft) * (1m / 39in)

Effective July 1, 1959 the length of the international yard in the United States and countries of the Commonwealth of Nations was defined as 0.9144 meters.

1 mile
= 1760 yards
= 1760 * 0.9144 meters
= 1609.344 meters (exact)

1 inch=2.54 cm
1ft=12 inches=12 x 2.54=30.48 cm
1meter=100/30.48=3.28 ft
5280/3.28=1609.344 is correct.
God bless you.

Starting with the basics.

One meter = 39.37 inches.

5280 feet per mile x 12 inches.per foot = 63360 inches in a mile.

63360 / 39.37 = 1609.3472 meters in a mile.

You are a little off.

1 meter = 3.2808399 ft.

5280 ft * 1 m / 3.2808399 ft = 1609.344 m

The units cancel just like numbers. ft * m / ft = m.

Knowing this helps you decide when to multiply and when to divide to make a conversion.

First off, a meter is not 3 feet!

5280 ft/mile x 12 in/ft x 2.54 cm/inch = 160934.4 cm

160934.4 cm/mile x 1 meter/100 cm = 1609.34 meters/mile

redo the problem and remember that 1 yard is equal to 3 feet, 1 meter is NOT equal to 3 feet.

I think you are losing value in your estimations.
